 Cost Accountant, Chief Buildings
Description: Chief Buildings is seeking a Cost Accountant to join the Chief team. The Cost Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate material, labor, and overhead standards are used for costing and in estimates. This position is responsible for various functions and tasks to assist with closing each fiscal month as well as year-end; monitors general ledger transactions and prepares various reports for the management team; and oversees capital expenditure transactions. This position also requires working with various departments and Chief Divisions. The ideal candidate for this position is a motivated self-starter with aspirations to grow within the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

* Updates material cost standards.

* Monitors and updates labor and overhead rates.

* Provides Management with timely, accurate, and concise cost accounting reports necessary for decision making purposes.

* Ensures that intra/inter-division transfers are properly costed by monitoring all incoming/outgoing transactions.

* Performs various month end closing duties, including preparation of monthly operating reports.

* Assists with the Annual Operating Budget.

* Assists with Chief's annual audit including preparing audit work papers.

* Reconciles perpetual inventory to general ledger.

* Initiates more efficient and accurate methods for Chief Buildings accounting processes.

* Monitors and corrects posting transactions in our ERP system.

* Processes inbound and outbound freight transactions.

* Reconciles and analyze general ledger accounts.

* Manages capital expenditure requests and transactions.

* Provides unparalleled personal attention to meeting the needs of our customers.

* Treats all stakeholders with dignity and respect.

* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, plus 3 years of experience in general or cost accounting. CPA or CMA a plus.
