 Structural Steel Estimator/Project Manager, Chief Buildings-Arrowhead
Description: Chief Buildings is seeking a Structural Steel Estimator/Project Manager to join the Chief Team! This position quotes and manages structural and misc. steel projects used in commercial building construction for the Arrowhead Steel. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for providing a complete estimate based on job specific information by deadlines given. As a PM, you will be responsible for managing awarded projects form creation through completion. This will include assisting the customer as required and overseeing the project through each of its phases. Arrowhead Steel, a department of Chief Buildings, is a regional fabricator of structural and miscellaneous steel infrastructure for construction projects.


* Responsible for creating accurate project estimates; to include material take-off's, detailing & shop labor, buyouts, freight, profit, etc.

* Evaluates all contract documents including all bid drawings, specifications, and general conditions to include review of Civil, Architectural, and Structural design drawings.

* Determines scope of work for our trade and determines vague areas to qualify bids.

* Develops comprehensive and detailed proposals for the projects estimated.

* Project manages awarded projects from beginning to end.

* Assists with scheduling of project between customer and Arrowhead management and shop.

* Creates, tracks, & follows through on change orders.

* Creates relationships with customers (internal and external).

* Provides unparalleled personal attention to meeting the needs of our customers.

* Treats all stakeholders with dignity and respect.

* All other duties assigned.
Qualifications: Requires solid understanding of costing methods, manufacturing or drafting/detailing normally gained through a technical level degree along with 3+ years of direct estimating experience or 5+ years general experience in structural steel or a related industry. Must have sound working knowledge of design drawings, shop drawings, steel materials and fabricated steel. Successfully proven project management and/or customer service experience and capabilities required. Must have well-developed business writing, verbal communication and listening skills. Success tied to an attitude of cooperation and teamwork with a natural aptitude to assist others; must willingly adapt to and accept constructive suggestions in group environment. Flexibility and assumption of new duties/responsibilities is necessary in order to respond to fluctuating work hours driven by project production needs. Ability to travel and valid driver's license is required.
